The task was to create a multi-functional building with a predominant feature of living in Brno on the corner of Stara and Bratislavska. This area is close to the city street circuit that encircles the center of Brno. The territory includes a vacant lot at the corner of the intersection, and further defined the adjacent street of Stará, Bratislava and Körnerová. My goal was to create a multifunctional building that would bring new applications to the sites and would be used at any time of the day. For this reason. I decided to combine the function of housing, commercial,administration and relaxation. Another goal was to create an object that will respect the surrounding historical buildings and give it added value. The result is mass divided into several smaller buildings, which opens onto a street junction with Stará and Bratislavska.

Multifunctional building is located in a vacant lot on the corner of Bratislavska and Stara streets in district Zábrdovice of Brno city. The main purpose of the building is to create conditions for the revival of declining district near the center, which is achieved by the proposed functions of gallery, studios, cafe and housing. The design works with public space and private atriums in a combination with residential galleries. Special attention was paid to the facade of the house to fit between the richly decorated buildings of the 19th century.

NEW FOR OLD project addresses the corner of two streets of Brno and Bratislava old. According to the assignment, there should be designed multi-functional building with 60 percent of the residential areas and 40 percent of other functions. In my case, it is only in residential and commercial functions. The house has two floors garage, two floors of commercial stalls and up above them in the form of small solitary building performs the function of housing. Materials of construction are mutually traced from protruding mass at the flush passage to a detached house on the northern border. The whole building is to some extent a paraphrase of the concept of yin-yang.

MULTIFUNCTIONAL BUILDING ON THE CORNER OF BRATISLAVSKA AND STARA STREET IN BRNO, ZABRDOVICE. THE LOCALITY, WHICH IS SITUATED NEAD BY THE CITY CENTER AND THE SMALL INNER CITY CIRCLE HAS GREAT GENIE LOCI. THE MAIN IDEA WAS TO COMPLETE THE BLOCK, CREATE CORNER AND SAVE THE LOCAL ATMOSPHERE. THE LOCALITY HAS ALSO LACK OF PUBLIC SPACES. CHARAKTERISTIC ELEMENT IS COURTYARD, WHICH IS USUALLY CLOSED AND PRIVAT. PROJECT CREATES AN COURTYARD, BUT PUBLIC ACCESSEBLE. NEW PUBLIC SPACE THEN WILL NOT BE OPENED TO THE HECTIC STREET FULL OF CAR, WHICH MAKES IT MORE DE LUXE. MOREOVER, THIS WAY CREATS MORE SPACES FOR PARTERRE.

The proposed building is located on the outskirts of the city of Brno, in the city of Zabrdovice, on the corner of Bratislavska and Stara. In the vicinity are mostly apartment buildings and houses amenities. The site is made up of closed blocks of houses. Therefore, the proposal concludes multifunctional building block. The basis of the proposal of a multifunctional building that will include residential units and public spaces that will offer services not only the residents but also the needs of the area. The mass of the building is formed by connecting the existing buildings is given street line, building height limits and neighboring houses. Creating corner reacts to the shape of the corner in which they are tapered or rounded. Determine the function of the facade of the house.

The project is composed of three buldings, with opened corner, creating public space southly. Northern part is created by green courtyard. The main five-storey building offers student housing, with the possibility to transform the student apartments into apartments for couples or young families. Parter this object lines ground floor building of a grocery store. The following dancing or sports center, with glass facade into a new square, equipped by shielding elements in form of vertical wooden slats, offers three halls. Parking is solved by an automatic car parking system, with parking spaces for residents and the public. Construction of the car parking system is 3 meters below ground courtyard.

Task of this bachelor thesis was to resolve a problematic parcel on the corner of Stará and Bratislavská streets. This object works as a housing area and his associated functions are shops. This proposal offers open green space of park and by this it rises huge value not only to itself but to whole neighbourhood. From the view of Bratislavská it respects existing buildings.
